Feel Better Soon

Tuesday, October 30, 2012
Hello friends!  I'm so delighted to be sharing a card at My Craft Spot today - and am sharing it with you here as well.

Unfortunately, a friend of mine was recently quite ill so I made this card to brighten her day.  I used g.c.d. studios papers and inked everything with some Tim Holtz Tattered Rose distress ink, adding some faux stitching with a white Gelly Roll pen.  The Bandaid was cut from Indie Art and the border was cut with a Fiskars punch.

The little sentiment is from the My Craft Spot Tiny Tags stamp set and I used the My Craft Spot Tiny Tags metal dies for the tag layers.  I finished things off with some Cherry Divine baker's twine from My Craft Spot and a couple of sweet little buttons from Calico Cottage Crafts.

I used an Action Wobble to attach the Bandaid to the card!

Thanks so much for visiting!  Don't forget that next week is the My Craft Spot Christmas/Winter stamp (and metal dies!) release party.  There will be lots of wonderful projects posted, prizes up for grabs each day - and a fun blog hop to finish things off!  I'll be back on Monday with my sneak peaks.

Octopus Monster

Monday, October 22, 2012
I'm doing a 2-in-1 with this week's project which meets the challenge requirements for both My Craft Spot (include a monster on your project) and Fantabulous Cricut (use the colours black and orange on a Halloween project).

I used Wild Card 2 for this fun octopus monster.  I embossed her with a folder from the Cuttlebug Give a Hoot Companion set.  I also sprayed some Glimmer Mist on her.  Unfortunately, the mist was more like a sputter - likely as I haven't used it in ages.  Anyway, I decided that it had a fun slimy look so all was good!  I added some Glossy Accents to the eyes as well.

A view of the "slime"

At the bottom of the card, I added a fence cut from a Martha Stewart punch.  I also used stamps (both the round sentiment and spider) from My Craft Spot's Stampin' Around Fall set - and used the matching Tiny Doilies metal dies to cut the green and white circles.  That's why they fit so perfectly!  The little bow was tied with some My Craft Spot Halloween The orange and black papers are from Bazzil's Spooky and Kooky pack.

Don't forget that the My Craft Spot Christmas/Winter Release Party is coming up in just two weeks!! Be sure to check out the news HERE.

Be sure to head over to Fantabulous Cricut and My Craft Spot to see what the rest of the design teams have created to inspire you - and to enter this week's challenges.

A Card for Michael

Tuesday, October 9, 2012
A fellow Canadian blogger, Naomi of Creative Bug on the Loose, recently put forth a request for cards for her son, Michael, who is due to have surgery to correct an issue with his feet.  Michael has autism and has had to face a number of challenges so far in his short life, but faces those challenges with a bright smile and an inquisitive nature.  For more details on Naomi's card call, please check HERE.

As many of you know, I have a 10-year old son with autism, so as soon as I read Naomi's plea, I was in!!  I wrote to Naomi to find out a bit more about Michael and learned that he is a fan of Webkins.  My little guy also loves Webkins - especially "Froggy".  As such, we decided to make a Froggy card for Michael.

I used Sesame Street Friends to create this shape card.  I embossed the yellow tummy with my Cuttlebug and added some spots of glitter to the middle of each raised bit using my Stardust Gelly Roll pen.  I used George and Basic Shapes to create the oval for the logo and Mickey Font for the "W".   I wasn't too sure about the big red eyes, but my little guy insisted as "Froggy's" eyes are red... so red eyes it is!

Our card is in the mail - along with a letter my son wrote to Michael - as well as our thoughts and prayers too!

Muffins to Enjoy and a Float My Boat Card

Monday, October 8, 2012

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends!  I hope you have a wonderful day celebrating the bounty of the harvest
and your many blessings.

*This post contains my projects for both My Craft Spot and Fantabulous Cricut.

This week at My Craft Spot, the challenge is A Treat for You - create something to go with the gift of food.  Although my son is doing fabulously well on his road to recovery, he is still limited with what he can do and so we've been enjoying a great deal of mother-son time.  Fortunately for me (but unfortunate for my waistline!!), he loves to bake as much as I do.  We recently made a big batch of mini chocolate chip banana muffins so I decided to take some to work to share with my colleagues.  They were a hit!

To make the bag toppers, I used a shape from Elegant Edges.  I used the shadow for the base and then cut the "regular" shape in half to layer on the topper after running it through my crimper.  The cute little bananas were cut from Create a Critter 2 and stamped with a Peachy Keen face.  The little banners were also cut from Create a Critter 2 and stamped with a sentiment from My Craft Spot's Sweet Sentiments - Set #2.  I finished things off with some raffia.

Be sure to head over to My Craft Spot to see the other delicious projects created to inspire you for this week's challenge.  Remember to link up your own project before next Monday night to be eligible for this week's fabulous prize.

This week at Fantabulous Cricut, the theme is Columbus Day - make a project using a ship.  I used Wild Card 2 for this one.

For the inside of the card, I cut the ship and adhered it over a Martha Stewart punched heart.  The top half of the blue background was embossed using a cloud folder that I received from my amazingly talented friend and design team sister, Jayne, of Jayne Designs.  (Thank you, Jayne!!)  I also added a Martha Stewart XOX border to the bottom of the inside of my card.

The front of the card was cut to remove the top half.  I simply adhered the "You float my boat" word art to the front and then added some brads to secure the card closed with some baker's twine from My Craft Spot.

Be sure to head over to Fantabulous Cricut to check out the rest of the design team inspiration - and to link up your own "ship" project for your chance to win this week's wonderful prize!
