Let's Get This Party Started! - Dancing Penguins

Tuesday, September 24, 2013
I'm sharing another project at My Craft Spot today and am happy to be sharing it here on my blog too!  My youngest guy LOVES penguins.  When he celebrated his birthday last month, I made a few different cards for him, including this one with penguins.

The penguins are from Zooballoo.  I stamped their faces with Peachy Keen stamps.  Don't they look so happy?  The penguins were attached to the background paper which I had stamped with a Peachy Keen cloud stamp.  Each penguin is on an Action Wobble for double the dancing fun!  The snowflake border was created with a Martha Stewart punch and some of the extra snowflakes were added to the card front - with little gems for extra celebratory glitter.

At the bottom of the card, I strung some Blueberry Blue baker's twine from My Craft Spot, threaded through a little blue button.  I finished things off with a cheerful sentiment from My Craft Spot's Birthday Wishes stamp set.  This set is perfect for all your birthday card creations!

Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a fabulous day!

Pinterest Inspired Card

Monday, September 23, 2013
This week at My Craft Spot, we are having a Pinterest-inspired challenge.  I have to admit that I certainly found this a challenge and tried a few different things before settling on my card.  I'm still not entirely sure what I think of it - but learned the hard way that our cat LOVED the raffia!!  Yesterday, I woke to find the card on the floor and the raffia completely chewed up...  Oh dear!

Here's the Pinterest photo to inspire you:

And here's my creation (before Electra got hold of it!):

I used a variety of Stampin' Up papers for the coloured background and I used an EK Success punch for the border.  The ivory base is handmade paper (although not made by me).  I also used some mulberry paper for the jar, which was cut from the NEW My Craft Spot Jar Basics metal dies and stamped with one of the NEW My Craft Spot Jar Basics stamps.  I also used a bit of white ink on the jar to distress it a bit.  The sentiment is from My Craft Spot's Happy Thanksgiving stamp set and I added a bit of extra detail with a flourish from My Craft Spot's Tickets stamp set, to which I added a tiny pearl.  I then finished everything off with three more pearls and some raffia.

Here is a close-up of the sentiment, which was stamped with Tim Holtz Pumice Stone distress ink.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to check out the rest of the design team creations - and to add your own Pinterest-inspired project for a chance to win this week's prize!

Nineteen

Tuesday, September 17, 2013
I'm so pleased to be sharing a project over at My Craft Spot today - and am posting it here on my blog as well.  A few weeks ago, my daughter turned nineteen and I created this card to celebrate her special day.

I used a sketch from Pinterest for the layout of my card - and it all came together so wonderfully easily for me!  For the most part, papers were cut by hand (with my paper cutter!) and then edges were inked.  With the layers at the bottom, I also added a strip of lace.  For the jagged edge on the mat, I cut the shape using Elegant Edges but trimmed the right side before adhering the rectangle to my card.  The flower and leaves were cut from a few different punches and the flower was placed atop a pretty little doily created with My Craft Spot's Tiny Doilies metal dies.  A pearl was added to the centre of the flower and a double bow created with ivory jute string tucked underneath.

Instead of a stamped sentiment, I chose to write "nineteen".  I cut the letters using My Craft Spot's Small Alphabet metal dies.  I absolutely LOVE these little metal dies.  The set comes with the entire lower case alphabet and a variety of little shapes as well.  They are just PERFECT for personalizing creations with any words or sentiments desired!  Here's a picture of the set:

Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a wonderful day!

Fall Stamp Release Party.  I can't believe we're halfway through the week already!  (Perhaps it's racing by as Monday was a holiday...)  Today, the team at My Craft Spot is showcasing the NEW Ornate Labels metal dies and corresponding NEW Ornate Labels - Halloween stamp set.

Eleven!

Tuesday, September 10, 2013
I'm so honoured to be sharing a project over at My Craft Spot today - and am posting it here too.  Last month, my youngest guy turned 11 and this is one of the cards I made for him.

I cut the letters for "eleven" using Cuttin' Up.  I ran the red letters through my Cuttlebug for a bit of added interest.  The blue mat was also embossed.  The fun banner was created with My Craft Spot's Tiny Banners and Toppers metal dies, with a silver ball added between each of the little pennants.  I used a variety of the pennants and toppers, mixing things up to keep things interesting!  Across the top of the banner, I strung some Cherry Red baker's twine.

The fun sentiment is from My Craft Spot's Down on the Farm set.  The stamp actually reads, "It's your day!  Milk it for all it's worth!"  As I just wanted the first part of the stamp for this card, I used some cellotape to cover the bottom of the stamp while inking.  I then removed the tape and stamped.  I cut the paper to size and added two silver balls to either side to finish things off.

Be sure to check out the My Craft Spot store for a wonderful selection of metal dies and stamp sets.  It's so easy to mix and match items to make a personalized, one-of-a-kind creation for any occasion!

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!

My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party - Blog Hop!!

Saturday, September 7, 2013
Today is the day of the My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party blog hop!!  If you have not already been to My Craft Spot, I suggest you start there to begin the hop and see the full reveal of all the NEW stamp sets and metal dies.  Be sure to leave a comment at each blog along the way to increase your chances of winning one of the NEW stamp sets or metal die sets.  How fun!!

My children all returned to school on Tuesday and I made this card for my youngest son who just started grade six. The little boy at his desk is a Create a Friend cut with a Peachy Keen face.

The sentiment next to him is a combination of "Have" from My Craft Spot's Cute Critters and "fun" from the NEW Jar Full of Fall stamp set.

I cut the label at the top of my card using one of the NEW Ornate Labels metal dies.  The apple is from the NEW Jar Full of Fall stamp set and was stamped with a fun face from the same set.  Using the Tiny Doilies metal dies, I cut the green circle (the die cuts the middle out too!) and stamped it with the alphabet, a stamp that is part of the My Craft Spot Stamping All Around Fall set.  I added a strip of red cardstock behind the label and finished things off with two green enamel dots which came in a rainbow pack I received from my super talented and incredibly kind crafting friend Susie of Susie Craft Happy.  Thanks again, Susie!!

As I noted above, Kimberly has very generously donated a NEW product for each of the designers to give away during this hop.  I'm thrilled to be giving away the NEW Jar Basics set to one hopper who leaves a comment on this post. Woo hoo!  Please leave a comment by midnight Sunday as I will be announcing the winner on Monday.

To continue the hop, please head over to visit the wonderfully creative Heather at Houses Built of Cards.  Also, here's a list of the entire blog hop line up so you don't miss anything!!

My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party - Day 5

Friday, September 6, 2013
It's Day 5 of the My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party.  This means that it's the last day of sneak peeks and that the FULL reveal will be made tomorrow!!  Today we are showcasing projects made with the NEW Jar Full of Fall stamp set.  This is another set that corresponds perfectly with the NEW Jar Basics stamp set and Jar Basics metal dies.

I decided to make a fall-themed love card.  Even though I fell hook, line and sinker for my man many years ago, this is for him. :)  To create my card, I cut a doily from kraft paper using the My Craft Spot 4" metal die.  I then stamped a small jar from the NEW Jar Basics stamp set on some patterned paper and then cut it out with the NEW Jar Basics metal dies.  Using a variety of scrap paper pieces, I punched a number of leaves and affixed them to the jar.  To finish the jar, I added some natural jute string from My Craft Spot.  I was then ready to pop the jar on the doily which I had already adhered to the patterned paper and trimmed.

The oak leaves are from the NEW Jar Full of Fall stamp set.  After stamping them on my designer paper, I coloured them in.  A sentiment from the Happy Thanksgiving stamp set was used to complete my card.

Head on over to My Craft Spot to see the wonderful Jar Full of Fall projects created by the rest of the design team - and don't forget to leave a comment there for Kimberly.  One lucky blogger will win some fun Halloween baker's twine!

Don't forget to come back tomorrow for the blog hop!!  Kimberly has very generously donated sets of the NEW stamps and metal dies to each of the design team members so there will be prizes at EACH stop along the way!!  See you tomorrow!!

My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party - Day 4

Thursday, September 5, 2013
Welcome to Day 4 of the My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party!!  Today, we are showcasing projects created with the NEW Bon Appétit stamp set.  For all of you who love to cook - or simply love to eat!! - this set is just what you need!

Looking through the NEW Bon Appétit stamps, I selected "I kiss better than I cook" and decided to make a card for my husband.  I love to cook and my husband loves my cooking.  My husband demonstrates and receives love through acts of service. (See The 5 Love Languages if you don't know what I mean.) After a meal he especially enjoys, my husband will often tell me that I love him too much. I made this card to give him with our next fancy meal.  I used Fast Food for the image (stamped with a Peachy Keen face) and everything else was simply cut with my paper cutter.  I did emboss the white mat through my Cuttlebug.

To tie things together with the silver in the serving dish, I added three silver sequins from the Tuxedo sequin set around my sentiment.  (Did you know that My Craft Spot now sells sequins? How fun!)

For the inside of my card, I computer-generated the "And I'm one GOOD cook" sentiment.  Pucker Up! is from My Craft Spot's Tasty Treats set and the lips are from My Craft Spot's Postage Stamps set.  Knowing my husband, he'll enjoy the kiss as much as (if not more than) the meal!! ;)

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see the rest of the design team creations made with the NEW Bon Appétit stamp set.  While you are there, leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: sequins!

NOTE: Winner will receive a selection of sequins.

My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party - Day 3

Wednesday, September 4, 2013
It's Day 3 of the My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party.  I can't believe we're halfway through the week already!  (Perhaps it's racing by as Monday was a holiday...)  Today, the team at My Craft Spot is showcasing the NEW Ornate Labels metal dies and corresponding NEW Ornate Labels - Halloween stamp set.

As soon as I saw this set, I couldn't wait to use the "Wicked Witch Inn" stamp so designed my card around it.  I started with a Happy Hauntings frame for my card base and then cut a haunted house (or inn, in this case!) using Create a Critter 2, running it through a Tim Holtz distressed brick embossing folder.  I inked the moon and then added some Crackle Accents for an extra glow.  In front of the inn, I used a Martha Stewart spooky fence border and then punched some black grass with an EK Success punch.  On top of this, I layered some fabulous Toadally Green crinkle ribbon (available at the My Craft Spot store).  Instead of a bow, I frayed the ends for a spooktacular look.

To create the wonderful sign for the inn, I first used the NEW Ornate Labels - Halloween stamp set to stamp the frame on green cardstock.  Next, I cut it out with the NEW Ornate Labels metal dies.  I then stamped "The Wicked Witch Inn, Stay for a Spell" sentiment from the NEW Ornate Labels - Halloween stamp set, which fits inside the frame perfectly.  After inking the edges, I used the same Tim Holtz embossing folder that I'd used on the inn itself to give a bit of added interest to the sign.  I finished everything off with some Halloween sequins, now available at My Craft Spot.

I used a couple more stamps from the NEW Ornate Labels - Halloween stamp set for the inside of my card, opting for another sentiment and the crow.

Be sure to visit My Craft Spot today to see the rest of the design team's fabulous creations - and leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: the Best Witches to You stamp set.

My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party - Day 2

Tuesday, September 3, 2013
Welcome to Day 2 of the My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party!  Did you see yesterday's Jar Basics stamps and metal dies?  Today's Jar Full of Halloween set corresponds just perfectly with them!!

I made a sweet set of 3x3 cards to give my favourite people.  I first used the NEW Jar Basics stamp set to stamp the smaller jar and then cut it out with the NEW corresponding Jar Basics metal die.  (It's easier this way than cutting first and then trying to align the stamp.  I know this from experience!!)  Once my jar was ready, I used the NEW Jar Full of Halloween set to stamp a fun web inside.  On top of that, I stamped the sweet little spider.  I think she's cute - especially with the little bit of green I added to her eyes.  On purple patterned paper, I stamped the hat (also from the NEW Jar Full of Halloween set) and then cut it out before popping it on my spider's head.  To finish things off, I wrapped a bit of Halloween baker's twine around the jar.

I also used the NEW Jar Full of Halloween stamp set for the inside of my cards, choosing to use the Happy Halloween sentiment and the smaller version of the spider.  I coloured her eyes green as well.

There are some more amazing Jar Full of Halloween projects for you to see over at My Craft Spot today.  Be sure to check them out!  And, while you are there, leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: Hocus Pocus crinkle ribbon.

My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party - Day 1

Monday, September 2, 2013
Welcome to the My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party!!  We've been working hard (and having heaps of fun) with the FIVE new stamp sets and TWO new sets of metal dies!!  This week, we'll showcase our projects each day, ending with a blog hop on Saturday - with prizes at EACH stop along the way!

Today, we are sharing projects made with the NEW Jar Basis stamp set and Jar Basics metal dies.  I dressed up a gift bag - perfect for giving away preserves. I used some patterned paper from my stash to create a mat and layered it with a fun jar and topper from the NEW Jar Basics metal dies.  Each piece was stamped using the NEW Jar Basics stamps.  Aren't these so fun?!  My preserves label was made with another stamp from the Jar Basics stamp set - and that fabulous little tag is from the NEW Jar Basics metal dies set too!  Inside my jar, I added a strawberry cut from Paisley and stamped with a Peachy Keen face.

Did you notice my little jar tag?  The little jar is from the same Jar Basics metal dies set.  (The lid fits both jars.)  And my sentiment is also from the NEW Jar Basics stamp set! I finished everything off with some Holly Green baker's twine.

Be sure to head over to My Craft Spot to see all the other fabulous creations made by the rest of the design team.  Don't forget to leave a comment there for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: a Spooky Treats stamp set!
