O Canada

Monday, June 30, 2014

We've had a busy couple of weeks, finally moving into our new home on the 19th. We love our house - and it's been fabulous to get all our items out of storage! We're still working on getting settled but, as we're on holidays now, we are able to get quite a bit done. My goodness, it's a LOT of work!

It's "Patriotic" week at My Craft Spot. As I am a proud Canadian, I created a card to celebrate Canada Day (July 1). I haven't done any unpacking or sorting in my craft room so it was a bit challenging to craft - but it was also very fun to take some time to craft!! I used the Lacy Banners metal die set for my pennants and the circles. The pennants themselves were stamped with a variety of stamps from the Pattern Blocks stamp set.  I then stamped each of the white circles with letters from the Chunky Alphabet stamp set.

Once the banner was complete, I used some red jute string along the top to finish things off.

For all those of you who are celebrating holidays this week, I hope you have a fabulous and safe time with family and friends! If you've created any projects to celebrate your nation, be sure to link them up at My Craft Spot for your chance to win this week's prize!

Cookies and a Winner

Monday, June 9, 2014

First of all, thank you so very much for all the wonderful comments you left last week during the My Craft Spot Stamp and Metal Die Release Party and Blog Hop.  Last week was ridiculously busy for me, with a commitment each night after work, and I so appreciated reading through your kind words.  This week is a bit less busy outside the home, but we move next week (FINALLY!) and I'm busy getting ready for that.  The timing is perfect as this is my last week at work before summer holidays so I'll have lots of time to dedicate to setting up our new home.

On Saturday, I volunteered at the annual local Autism Ontario yard sale. I had also agreed to do some baking for the bake table - although I really had no time in which to do anything extra in the kitchen.  My wonderful daughter spent the day with my youngest little guy making 11 dozen of her scrumptious signature chocolatey chocolate chip cookies.  I did manage to find time to quickly design some fun tags for her using a cookie image from Miss Kate Cuttables and filled in with digital patterns from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons. (One of the many nicknames I have for my daughter is Betty. Her name is really Erin!!)

Finally, we have a winner!  A visit to Random.org resulted in the number 20 - Indy of Indy Designs.  Congratulations Indy!  You are the lucky winner of the NEW My Craft Spot Build a Birthday stamp set!! Please contact me with your shipping details so I can arrange to have your new stamps shipped to you (smallbitsofpaper at hotmail dot com).

My Craft Spot Blog Hop!

Saturday, June 7, 2014

It's the My Craft Spot Stamp and Metal Die Release Party Blog Hop!! Today, Kimberly is making the  FULL reveal of all her fabulous NEW products - and they are all available for purchase today too!  Yay! Be sure to hop along as there are prizes up for grabs at EACH stop along the way. Another yay!

For my project, I created a card for a friend and colleague who is retiring and used a sketch from Basic Grey for the layout. The NEW Time Clock stamp set was just the thing to create a card to mark this special occasion. When I first saw the sentiment used on this card, I was so excited for one of Debbie's courses is called Pursuit of Happiness. Too perfect!

The fancy little stamp next to my sentiment is one from the NEW Build a Birthday set.

I also stamped a clock face using one of the NEW Time Clock stamps and cut it out with a die from the original Tiny Doilies metal dies set. The pretty black doily behind it is from the Tiny Doilies 2 metal dies set.  Between the clock face and black doily, I layered a ribbon banner which I cut using the Ribbon Banners - Straight metal dies.  (I did have to cut it in the middle to shorten it.)  I also added two pretty  flourishes cut from the Heart Border metal dies set.  The lovely rounded border was created using the original Fancy Edges metal die set.

The sentiment inside my card is computer-generated and then fancied up a bit with a little stamp design from the NEW Build a Birthday set.  As with the front of the card, I did some inking for a bit of a vintage look.  This card came together quite quickly and I'm so pleased with how it turned out.

I'm delighted to be giving away one of the NEW Build a Birthday stamp sets here at Small Bits of Paper.  (Thanks, Kimberly!) All you need to do is leave a comment on this post and I will announce the random winner on Monday.

Now it's time for you to hop on over to see the sweet, sparkly and wonderfully talented Karen at Kaleidoscopic Sparkles. And, if you missed something along the way, here's the full blog hop order for you:
Kate (me!)

Thanks so much for popping by!  Have a ridiculously amazing weekend!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day Five

Friday, June 6, 2014

Wow! This week has flown! It's already Friday and this means that it is Day 5 of the My Craft Spot Stamp and Metal Die Release Party!! Our set to showcase today is the NEW Build a Birthday stamp set. There are a number of great words and phrases that can be combined to create a number of great sentiments for birthdays (and other occasions, as seen by my project)!

My daughter recently got her driver's license. I made this card to congratulate her. I used a fun image from My Scrap Chick for the girl in the car. There are three different sizes of chevron/jagged border dies in the NEW Fancy Edges 2 metal die set. I used all three to create the patterned layer at the bottom of my card.

The cloud is part of a Miss Kate Cuttables image set. I used two stamps from the NEW Build a Birthday set to create my sentiment and then popped on an enamel dot for some added fun.

If you haven't been by already, please head over to My Craft Spot to see the rest of the design team projects showcasing the NEW Build a Birthday set.  While you are there, leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: the original Tiny Tags stamp set!

Thanks so much for popping by!  Tomorrow, Kimberly will have the full reveal of all the NEW My Craft Spot products AND we celebrate with a blog hop - with prizes at EACH stop along the way!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day Four

Thursday, June 5, 2014

Welcome to Day Four of the My Craft Spot Stamp and Metal Die Release Party!! Today, we are showcasing projects created with the fabulous NEW Word Quotes metal dies.  This set is so much fun!

For my project, I used a sweet little bear image from Little Scraps of Heaven.  It was a freebie a few weeks ago, and as soon as I saw him, I knew he would be perfect with the NEW cheery "hello" Word Quotes metal die with his happy little wave.

I used one of the NEW Fancy Edges 2 metal dies to create the sweet daisy border for my card and finished everything off with some black jute string

Today, over at My Craft Spot, Kimberly is giving away the absolutely gorgeous 4" Doily metal die.  Please check out the rest of the design team projects and then leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day Three

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

Welcome to Day Three of the My Craft Spot Stamp and Metal Die Release Party!! Today, we are showcasing projects created with the NEW Music stamp set. This is such an elegant set with lovely sentiments and fabulous little images too! It's a perfect set for anyone who loves music!

I decided to create a tag to showcase the NEW Music stamp set. As I don't have much in the way of musical-themed images, I took to Google for support and came across a gorgeous box and tag set created by Joan at Mi Rincon de Papel. I fell in love with the tag and decided to make one of my own. Using a tag base from Very Merry Tags, I used the offset feature on my Cameo to create a shadow using a treble clef I found online. I then welded the shadow to the tag for the base.

Once everything was cut, I used the NEW Music stamp set to create my pretty sentiment (it's actually made up of two stamps) and to stamp little musical notes all around the tag. I added some silver balls to the treble clef and finished things off with some gorgeous Cranberry crinkle ribbon.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see the rest of the beautiful creations made my the design team. While there, be sure to leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: jute string!

Thanks so much for popping by! I'll be back again tomorrow with another creation to share with you.

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day Two

Tuesday, June 3, 2014

Welcome to Day Two of the My Craft Spot Stamp and Metal Die Release Party!!  Today, we are showcasing projects created with the NEW Robots stamp set.  The sentiments and fonts on this set are so fun!

I created a little handled bag using a file from SVG Cutting Files. I also used a QuicKutz chain link folder to debosse the bag.  The word balloon was missing from the cutting file so I created my own using an image I found online and stamped it with one of the NEW Robots sentiments.  It's perfect with the image on the bag!

See the coil under the sentiment?  I created that with a metal die from the NEW Fancy Edges 2 set and then layered a little heart cut with a die from Scrapping Life Cards metal dies.

Be sure to head over to My Craft Spot to check out the rest of the projects.  While there, leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: the Banner Sentiments stamp set.

Thanks so much for visiting!  See you tomorrow!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day One

Monday, June 2, 2014

Welcome to Day One of the My Craft Spot Stamp and Metal Die Release Party!!  We've got a fun week of projects lined up, with each day dedicated to one (or more!) of the NEW releases!  Be sure to leave a comment at My Craft Spot for your chance to win a daily prize.  Plus, there's a blog hop on Saturday to celebrate the full reveal - with prizes at EACH stop along the way!  All NEW products will be available for sale on Saturday too.  So fun!

Today, we are showcasing creations made with the NEW Clock Time stamp set.  I used my Cameo to design a flip card.  Using the NEW Clock Time stamp set, I stamped a clock face and hands and then cut it out with a die from the Tiny Doilies metal die set before adding a brad to the middle.  (The clock faces are designed to co-ordinate with both the Tiny Doilies metal die sets.)  The beautiful doily surrounding the clock face is from the Tiny Doilies 2 set.

Once the clock face was adhered to my card, I stamped a wonderful sentiment from the NEW Clock Time stamp set.  To balance things off, I also used a little flourish from the set in the bottom left corner.

Please remember to head over to My Craft Spot to check out the rest of the projects - and to leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance with win today's prize: the Chalkboard Sentiments stamp set!

Thanks so much for visiting!  See you tomorrow!
