Blast From the Past - My Craft Spot Challenge

Monday, September 22, 2014

This week's challenge at My Craft Spot is "Blast From the Past". Usually, projects for our weekly My Craft Spot challenges need to be new - but we're breaking the rules this time! Re-post any previously made project that you've created using My Craft Spot products and link up your new post for a chance to win a gift certificate to the My Craft Spot Shop! So fun!

I decided to share a card I made in August 2013 for our Get Well/Sympathy challenge. I created the card based on a sketch that I had found on Pinterest. I always like the way my cards come out when I use a sketch. I really do need to remember to use them more often!

When creating my card, for the most part, I simply cut papers in various sizes, embossing one of the panels and inking everything.  I used the My Craft Spot 4" Doily metal die to cut a dictionary page and layered it underneath a Wild Orchid Crafts rose, some My Craft Spot Vintage Vanilla crinkle ribbon tied in a double bow and my sentiment panel.

The beautiful sentiment is from My Craft Spot's With Deepest Sympathy stamp set.  I used a Spellbinders die to cut it out - and it looked as though the die was made for the sentiment!  I was so excited with how they worked together so perfectly!

Thanks so much for visiting! Have a fabulous week!

Hot Chocolate Treat Bag

Thursday, September 18, 2014

Hello Crafty Friends! It is my day to share a project over at My Craft Spot today. I'm posting here too with a few more details. With our drop in temperatures, hot chocolate season is certainly on its way and I created this K-cup treat box as a special extra something for my middle guy. We enjoy testing out new flavours of hot chocolate - but the ones inside were just for him!!

The K-cup treat box itself is from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons. I added a little frame to decorate the front - and to have something for my sentiment! I used My Craft Spot's White Christmas to stamp "Hot chocolate warms the heart". I thought this was just perfect with the treat box!!

I also used the White Christmas set to stamp some snowflakes with Versamark. Once all the stamping was done, I added three little pearls.

I added a natural jute string bow to dress things up even a bit more. I love this string!!

Here's another view to see how the K-cups are held in place. This is such a great cut file! It's easy to put together and makes a lovely little gift.

Thanks so much for visiting! Have a wonderful day!!

Penguin Birthday Card

Thursday, September 11, 2014

Hello Crafty Friends! I'm sharing a project over at My Craft Spot today and am sharing details here are well.

I made this card for my youngest who celebrated a birthday last month. He loves penguins! I used some images from Miss Kate Cuttables to create this shape card. Originally, the penguin's balloon was a heart, but I mixed things up to have a traditional balloon shape. I also added the numbers using my Silhouette as it's always fun for children to have their age added to a birthday card!

The little tag was cut using a die from My Craft Spot's Jar Basics metal dies set. I then stamped it with a sentiment from Tiny Tags 3.

Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a wonderful day!

My Craft Spot Fall Release Blog Hop!!

Saturday, September 6, 2014

It's time for the My Craft Spot Fall Release Party Blog Hop. If you've come by from the wonderfully sweet and talented Ally's blog, you are in the right spot! All week long, we have been sharing projects created with the FIVE NEW stamp sets and FOUR NEW sets of metal dies. They are ALL available for purchase now!! To celebrate, we are finishing things off with a blog hop - with a $10US gift certificate to the My Craft Spot Shop available to be won at EACH of the design team blogs!!

For my project, I decided to make a Thanksgiving-themed pillow box. I took a pillow box and made a few alterations, including the addition of an Elegant Edges window. Once the box was cut, I embossed it with a basketweave folder. I used a few metal dies to create my leaf spray. The maple and oak leaves are from the NEW Fall Border metal die set, the brown leaves from the Flowers - Daisy set and the swirls from the NEW Fall Wheelbarrow set.

The little ticket was cut using a Tickets metal die and the border and underline were stamped using Tickets stamps. The wonderful sentiment is from the NEW Fall Leaves stamp set.

I finished everything off with some Bittersweet jute string and a brass brad. Oh! Plus I wrapped some tiny Hershey chocolate bars and decorated them with leaves cut using the NEW Fall Border metal dies before tucking them into the box.

Here's a look at ALL the new products - each of which is available for purchase today!! (Click the heading of each NEW product to be taken right to the order page at the My Craft Spot Shop.)

My Craft Spot Fall Release Party - Day 5

Friday, September 5, 2014

I can't believe it's Friday already. The week has flown by and what an exhausting (but fun!) week it has been! Today is the final day of sneak peaks for the My Craft Spot Fall Release Party. All week long, we have been sharing projects created with the FIVE NEW stamp sets and FOUR NEW sets of metal dies. Tomorrow, we'll celebrate with a full reveal of the NEW products and a blog hop - with prizes at each stop along the way. How exciting!! Today, we are showcasing projects created with the fun NEW Batty for You stamp set.

Perhaps it was my early introduction to Charlotte's Web, but I actually like spiders! As such, as soon as I saw the "Along came a spider" sentiment, I knew I had to try it out. My spider is from Stretch Your Imagination. Because I imported the spider into my Silhouette software, I was able to use the offset feature to create a shadow. I also dressed her up a bit with glossy purple shoes googly eyes, a shiny nose and a little bow made with lilac baker's twine.

The web borders on my card were created with the NEW Fancy Edges - Halloween metal dies. For my sentiment, I first cut a label with Ornate Labels metals dies and stamped a border using a stamp from the Ornate Labels - Christmas set. The fun sentiment is from the fabulous NEW Batty for You stamp set.

Over at My Craft Spot, there are lots of other great projects created with the NEW Batty for You stamp set. Be sure to check them out - and leave a comment there for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: Hocus Pocus crinkle ribbon. Be sure to visit again tomorrow for the full reveal of ALL NEW stamp sets and metal dies, as well as a blog hop with prizes at each stop along the way!! Plus, all NEW products will be available for sale too!!

My Craft Spot Fall Release Party - Day 4

Thursday, September 4, 2014

It's Day 4 of the My Craft Spot Fall Release Party! All week long, we are sharing projects created with the FIVE NEW stamp sets and FOUR NEW sets of metal dies. On Saturday, we'll end things with a full reveal and blog hop. Today, we are showcasing projects created with the NEW Chalkboard Sentiments - Fall stamp set.

I created two quick and easy projects to showcase today's NEW stamp set. For my first card, I used the beautiful NEW Fall Borders metal die set for the pretty border along the side. Once that was assembled, I stamped a sentiment using the NEW Chalkboard Sentiments - Fall stamp set. Kimberly's metal dies are a fabulous way to create something wonderful when time is limited. (They're also just as fabulous to add extra detail to fancy creations too!)

For my second card, I traced an image I found online. (Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate it again. I do like to give credit where credit is due and apologize that I did not save the original link.) Once I cut out the background, I stamped the mat with a sentiment from the NEW Chalkboard Sentiments - Fall stamp set. I decided to add just a little something more and used the NEW Halloween Shapes metal die set to cut out a little spider. The NEW Halloween Shapes set is full of great little shapes to embellish all your Halloween creations.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see the rest of the projects created by my ridiculously talented design team sisters - and leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: a $10US gift certificate to the My Craft Spot Shop!!

My Craft Spot Fall Release Party - Day 3

Wednesday, September 3, 2014

It's Wednesday and Day 3 of the My Craft Spot Fall Release Party! All week long, we'll be sharing projects created with the FIVE NEW stamp sets and FOUR NEW sets of metal dies. On Saturday, we'll end things with a full reveal and blog hop. Today, we are showcasing projects created with the fun NEW Banner Sentiments - Fall stamp set. This fantastic NEW set contains 18 banner sentiments!!

As we have a black cat, I decided to use the "Black Cat Café" sentiment for my creation. I cut a window shape out of my black mat and then embossed the mat with a Tim Holtz Bricked embossing folder. I cut the window frame and flower box out of a metallic cardstock and embossed them with a Tim Holtz Woodgrain folder. Along the top of my card, I added a drippy border created with the NEW Fancy Edges - Halloween metal die set and a spider web cut from the NEW Halloween Shapes metal die set. (This set has so many fun little shapes!) I added Glossy Accents to both the drippy edge and spider web for a bit of added spookiness.

Inside the window, I used a little bat from the Stamping All Around Fall stamp set and a spider web from Jar Full of Halloween to stamp a little eeriness. The crooked sign for my café was actually created with a die from the Washi Tape metal die set! Before embossing it with a Tim Holtz Woodgrain folder, I stamped it with one of the sentiments from the NEW Banner Sentiments - Fall stamp set. I also added two little black gems for "nails". Finally, what's a Black Cat Café without a black cat? I used the NEW Halloween Shapes metal die set to cut the black cat.

Please be sure to head over to My Craft Spot to see more projects created with the NEW Banner Sentiments - Fall stamp set. Don't forget to leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: jute string!! (One lucky winner will get 10 yards/9.144 meters EACH of orange, black, parrot green and purple!)

Tuesday, September 2, 2014

Happy Tuesday!! It's Day 2 of the My Craft Spot Fall Release Party! All week long, we'll be sharing projects created with the FIVE NEW stamp sets and FOUR NEW sets of metal dies. On Saturday, we'll end things with a full reveal and blog hop. Today, we are showcasing projects created with the NEW Fall Leaves stamp set.

For my card, I cut out a black mat and embossed it with my Cuttlebug Number Collage folder. I then used a metal die from the Scrapping Life Cards set for my sky background and created a bit of grass for the bottom using a Fancy Edges metal die. The focal point of my card is the little wheelbarrow which is cut from the fabulous NEW Wheelbarrow metal dies set. And the apples inside? They're from the same NEW Wheelbarrow set!!

Once my wheelbarrow and apples were assembled, I stamped the sky background with a lovely sentiment from the NEW Fall Leaves stamp set. I finished things off with some red jute string

My Craft Spot Fall Release Party - Day 1

Monday, September 1, 2014

Welcome to September!! It's time for the My Craft Spot Fall Release Party! We've been hard at work (and play!) creating with the FIVE new stamp sets and FOUR new sets of metal dies!! Each day this week, we'll showcase projects made with the new projects and end with a bang on Saturday, celebrating with the full reveal, a blog hop and lots of prizes along the way!

For my card, I used a sweet little witch image from the Silhouette store (#22459). I used a polka-dot and plaid embossing folders with my Cuttlebug to dress up her outfit a bit. The fun sentiment is from the NEW Halloween Potions stamp set. It actually comes in two parts but I combined everything to fit inside my Word Bubble

I decided my card needed just a little something more, so finished things off with a couple of bats cut from the NEW Halloween Shapes metal die set. There are a number of fabulous little dies in this set - perfect for dressing up your Halloween projects!!

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see the rest of the AMAZING projects created for Day 1 of the Release Party! While you are there, be sure to leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: sequins (Perfectly Purple, Toadally Green and Creamsicle Orange).

For those of you in Canada and USA, have a fantastic Labour Day! We'll be spending the day at the lake - a wonderful way to end the summer before school starts up again tomorrow. I feel as though I've bitten off a bit more than I should have with all my commitments and duties over the past couple of weeks (and this coming week) so a day of boating is a real blessing!!
