Congrats Grad!

Monday, May 19, 2014

Happy Victoria Day!
It's time for another fun challenge at My Craft Spot and this week's theme is Congrats/Graduation.  At the end of June, my youngest will be graduating from his school (Grade 6) to move on to middle school. Life can be a challenge for him as he has autism so we are especially proud of this major accomplishment in his life. Four years ago, he was in a private school that was absolutely awful for him.  With a broken heart, we took him out of his school and put him in the public system.  WOW!  What a difference!  My biggest prayer was that he would be accepted and loved for who he is - and that prayer has been answered.  We are so incredibly thankful for the support that he has received and the full extent of inclusivity that has been extended to him.

I used a fun file from My Scrap Chick to create my card.  I designed the word art using a Brady Bunch font.

I finished everything off with a fabulous sentiment from My Craft Spot's Banner Sentiments set.  This card was so quick and easy to assemble - and I LOVE the way it turned out!

In this busy time of graduations, weddings, babies, new homes, etc., etc., be sure to enter your congratulations/graduation projects at My Craft Spot for a chance to win this week's prize - the Banner Sentiments stamp set!

Your Kindness Means So Much

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

Hello friends!  I've got an incredibly quick and easy card to share today - and I'm sharing it over at My Craft Spot as well.  I created this card using last week's Silhouette freebie and made a few quick adjustments to the design.

Once the two layers were cut, I used My Craft Spot's NEW Washi Tape metal dies, embossing the longer piece with a basket weave folder. I then stamped the smaller piece with a sentiment from the Thank You stamp set.  The longest part was waiting for the Silhouette to do its work with the cutting!

I'm heading off this morning to attend a conference for work and will be back Friday evening.  I'll be glad to finally catch up on some sleep this weekend!

Mother's Day Card

Monday, May 5, 2014

I had an absolutely fabulous time in Detroit last week with my son's hockey team.  He was taking part in the Special Hockey International tournament.  In fact, during the second game, my little guy earned the team puck by being the player who most exemplified the qualities of Special Hockey International! The entire team did such an amazing job playing their games (and won a few of them too!) and it really was a blessing to be part of it all.  Unfortunately, I was not able to get much shopping in - although I DID find some new embossing folders which found their way into my shopping cart.

This week's challenge at My Craft Spot is Mother's Day/Spring.  I was in a bit of a rush to put a project together before I left but a cute file from Miss Kate's Cuttables did the work for me!  I created the card base with a shape from Call Me Victorian and stamped the top layer with a sentiment from Happy Easter before embossing it with a sweet butterfly folder.  I then added the momma/baby bird cut with PopDots.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see what the rest of the design team has created - and to link up your own Mother's Day/Spring-themed project for a chance to win this week's prize!

My Craft Spot Mini-Release Day 2 - Washi Tape Metal Dies

Friday, May 2, 2014

Welcome to Day Two of the surprise mini-release at My Craft Spot! Today, we are sharing projects created with the NEW Washi Tape metal dies.

For my card, I used my paper trimmer to cut the card base and rounded the bottom corners with a Martha Stewart punch.  I then used a die from the Scrapping Life metal dies set for the white mat.  Using a variety of small bits of paper (couldn't resist!) from my scrap stash, I cut a six strips using the NEW Washi Tape metal dies set and layered five of them at the top of the white mat. I then trimmed the top off the mat to line up with the top of the card.

Using the last of the washi tape cuts, I stamped it with a sentiment from Postage Stamps and positioned it at the bottom of the mat.  Using the NEW Rolled Flowers metal dies, I created three little flowers and filled them with microbeads.  I tied a bow with sage jute string and adhered my flowers on top.

My Craft Spot Mini-Release Day 1 - Rolled Flowers Metal Dies

Thursday, May 1, 2014

We're having a mini-release at My Craft Spot!!  Kimberly is releasing two new sets of must-have metal dies - and both sets are available immediately!  Today, we are showcasing projects created with the new Rolled Flowers metal dies.

For my project, my daughter and I created some little favour boxes for the table.  Each box was made using Wrap It Up and decorated with a border created with the Fancy Edges metal dies.  I then created some pretty little flowers using the larger of the two dies in the Rolled Flowers metal dies set.

I finished things off with a little sprig punched with a Martha Stewart punch.  Actually, I suppose I really finished things off with two little chocolates tucked inside each box!!
