I (HEART) Canada

Friday, June 26, 2015
Happy weekend! I've taken a small hiatus from crafting in order to finish a course I was taking and am thrilled to be back to take part in the Paper Garden Canada Day Card Challenge! Tiffany even sent me some fabulous cardstock and envelopes, some of which I've used on my card. All of the red you see is Aura Scarlet Linen cardstock (which has a slight texture that I LOVE) and the white is Aura Solar White, a fabulous cover weight cardstock just perfect for card creations.

I found this sweet little girl from My Scrap Chick and did make a couple of minor alterations to get just the look I wanted for my card. I embossed the mat with a cloud background and then got out some of my favourite My Craft Spot products to finish things off. (Even though
My Craft Spot is no longer in business, I love the products and still think they're the best out there!)

I used Tiny Banners metal dies for the little banner at the side and Small Alphabet metal dies for the letters to spell "Canada". At the top, I added die cuts for the I (HEART).

Please check out all the fabulous creations made by the rest of the participants in the Paper Garden Canada Day Care Challenge and even join in the fun, if you'd like. There's also an opportunity to vote for your favourite. Of course, I'd love for you to pick my card but you're welcome to choose the one with which you're most taken.

Cool in the Pool

Monday, May 25, 2015

Hello from miles in the sky! This is the last of my pre-scheduled posts as my daughter and I are on our way home today! When this post goes live, we'll likely be boarding our plane for our 8-hour trans-Atlantic flight home.

The sweet little bears-in-the-pool image is from the Gotta Wear Shades stamp set. The happy sun is from that set too. I coloured in the images and then popped them on the mats. The top mat was embossed with a butterfly folder. I used Banner Dies to get the stitched oval at the bottom on my card and used a Keepin' cool in the pool sentiment is also from the Gotta Wear Shades set.

I finished everything off with some yellow twine. Now I'm ready for summer!! I'm excited to be home to get to work in my garden. I've got a month off before the boys are done school so have a long list of chores I've made for myself.

Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a wonderful week!

Clouds Away

Saturday, May 23, 2015

Greetings from Greenwich, England! My daughter and I are nearing the end of our holiday. As such, this is a pre-scheduled post.

Here's what I've created for you today...

I used Banner Dies for the large banner small yellow banner that peeks out at the bottom of my card. I stamped the large banner with a cloud background and then cut out the sun. You can use the
NEW The Sky is the Limit metal dies to do this. I then stamped the sun (from the NEW The Sky is the Limit stamp set) on my card base and coloured it in. The large banner is popped on the front of my card for a bit of dimension.

The wonderful sentiment is also from the NEW The Sky is the Limit stamp set. I finished everything off with a bit of yellow jute string and a button.

Thanks so much for visiting! Have a FABULOUS weekend!

The Sky is the Limit

Wednesday, May 20, 2015

Greetings from Salisbury, England! This is a pre-scheduled post as my daughter and I continue on our holiday through France and England.

Here's what I've created for you.....

The NEW The Sky is the Limit stamp set has images and sentiments. I decided to create a set of cards to hand out to the captains and first officers of our flights to and from Europe in order to thank them for getting us safely to our destinations. (I HATE flying, so am always especially thankful when we land!!) I used Banner Dies for the card mats, and embossed each one with a cloud folder. The little plane is from New Arrival. It's a Cricut image which I imported into my Silhouette software. Once in Silhouette, I added a little "Air Transat" symbol on the planes' tails.

Here's a close up of the fun sentiment. I thought it would be perfect for pilots! Bot the stitched cloud and the sentiment are from the NEW "The Sky is the Limit" set. The coordinating metal dies work with all the stamps in this set too.

Happy Yeti Birthday

Sunday, May 17, 2015

Hello from Bude, Cornwall! This is another pre-scheduled post as my daughter and I are still on holidays. Last month, I created this fun card for a colleague. We are forever joking around about yeti so I couldn't resist creating a yeti card for her special day.

Earlier this year, I saw the Betty the Yeti set over at Lettering Delights and knew it would be perfect for making things for my colleague. I designed the card and then printed it out with an extra yeti and flower for some added dimension. The word YETI was printed using the Silhouette print and cut feature. In fact, I used the print and cut feature for everything except Happy Birthday.

Once the card was assembled with my sweet yeti popped on the card base, I then used Totally Turtle to add "Happy Birthday" around the word YETI. The original sentiment is Happy Belated Birthday.

Thanks so much for visiting today. Have a fabulous day!

Gr8 Job, Graduate!

Monday, May 11, 2015

Hello friends! Bonjour de Paris! I'm here with a pre-scheduled post as my daughter and I are on our highly anticipated trip to Paris and England. We flew out last Thursday and are spending the week in Paris. I've been to Paris a couple of times but it's Erin's first time. I'm so excited to show her all the sites!

Although my son will be finished high school in June, for some bizarre reason, the school waits until October for the official graduation. Anyway, I'm all set now with the card I've made for him!!

The sweet little graduate is a file from Too Cute By Jessica's Graduation Pals set. Isn't he adorable (just like my son!)? I created the card base by cutting a regular A2 card and then using a Martha Stewart star border punch along the front, right edge. The mats were cut with the top layer embossed with stars.

The yellow "stitched" stars were cut with the fabulous star die in Craftin' Desert Divas' Banner Dies set. I used a few different stamps from the Short and Sweet Tags stamp set. For Woo hoo! and You Rock!, I used my marker to stamp the sentiments on two lines. Otherwise, it was business as usual!

Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a wonderful week!

Love You Mum

Monday, April 27, 2015

I made a card for my dearly loved mum. First, I stamped around the base of the card with a flower stamp from Craftin Desert Divas'Just Bugcause stamp set. I then used the largest die from the Banner Dies set and trimmed the bottom of the banner before embossing it with a clouds folder and inking the edge. The sweet birds and flower are from Too Cute by Jessica's Skinny Spring Birds file. I embossed the petals of the flower too. The grass was made with Martha Stewart fringe scissors and a layer cut with the same banner die and then punched with a Fiskars grass border punch. (It's hard to see, but the mat and grass have "stitching" thanks to the Banner Dies

For the bottom of the card, I cut some letters to spell "Mum". The little heart is from Too Cute by Jessica'Skinny Spring Birds too. Finally, I stamped "Love You" using Craftin Desert Divas’ Short and Sweet Tags stamp set.

Thanks so much for visiting me today. Have a fabulous week!

Wedding Card - Smash Style

Wednesday, April 22, 2015

Hello friends! A few weeks ago, a friend of mine got married and I created a fun hybrid wedding card for the happy couple - smash style!

I created the front panel of my card on my Silhouette, using a clipart image and changing the colours a bit so I could match things with the border. I printed and cut an extra image of the bride and groom and popped them on the card. I also used my Silhouette for the couple's names. I then used a variety of Craftin Desert Divas' stamps to dress things up a bit. The arrows are from the Picture That stamp set, as are the "love it" and "always" sentiments. "The Perfect Pair" sentiment is from the Perfect Pair stamp set and "Now & Forever" is from Simply Said.

The three black heart outlines are from Totally Turtle

Thanks so much for visiting today. Have a fabulous day!

Thanks a Buzz-illion

Saturday, April 18, 2015

Here's a thank you card I recently made with some of the recently-released CDD products. I used the new Banner Dies for the banner and oval on my card. I used the oval to cut a portion out of the banner and then embossed the banner. The stamp is from the
NEW Just Bugcause stamp set.

The sweet little bee and his "path" are also stamps from the NEW Just Bugcause set. Isn't he cute? I used the NEW Just Bugcause metal dies to cut out the bee and his path too.

Here's the freebie for today's hop. If want it (and who wouldn't?), be sure to leave a comment at each hop participant and then send an email to Tara (craftindesertdivas@gmail.com) to say that you have do so.

Spring Shaker Card

Monday, April 13, 2015

Today's project is a spring-themed shaker card. I used my Silhouette to cut some flower shapes out of my base and used the offset feature to create a shadow for the largest flower. It's hard to tell in the photo, but I also used my Silhouette to cut a faux stitched border around the top white portion of the card.

Once the card was cut out, I used different coloured sequins to fill in each of the flowers. I also stamped inside the largest one with a cheery "Hello" sentiment from Craftin Desert Divas’ Simply Said stamp set.

Have a wonderful week!

HAPPY EASTER!

Happy Easter, everybody! I hope that you are all having a wonderful day. This is my daughter's weekend "on" at her residence job. Each of the advisors had to take a holiday weekend throughout the year, and this weekend is her turn. I miss her! I'm off with my husband and the boys to attend a big family celebration - complete with too much food and a massive Easter egg hunt. It's always lots of fun!

I have a card to share today - although it is not an Easter card. It's actually one that I made a couple of months ago and forgot to share. I made this to say thanks to a teacher. The fabulous bear image is from Too Cute By Jessica's Feelin' Nerdy Bears file .

I added my sentiment to the big crayon, using a stamp from Craftin Desert Diva's Simply Said set. It fit perfectly!

HAPPY EASTER!

Baby Born Sleeping (Sympathy Card) - and a coupon

Monday, March 30, 2015

Last week, my nephew and his wife gave birth to a stillborn baby boy. I was at a loss as to what sort of card to make for them. One of my colleagues volunteers in a leadership capacity with our local Pregnancy and Infant Loss support group and I am thankful for the direction that she gave me. I also really wanted to include a teddy bear on the card and was thrilled to find just the right image at ScrappyDew.

The "Baby boy born sleeping" is computer generated and I used my Silhouette to design the wording to curve around the moon. I also used print and cut (with the pattern fill from Lettering Delights) for the moon, stars and little cap. Clouds are inked and embossed. The image is popped on the card too.

I used Craftin Desert Divas’ Simply Said stamp set for the "With Sympathy" sentiment. I stamped it in blue and then went over the sentiment with my Stardust Gelly Roll pen. I also coloured in the "string" on the blue star.

Thanks so much for visiting me today. Have a wonderful week!

You're Turtley Awesome

Saturday, March 21, 2015

I used one of the sweet little turtle images from Totally Turtle and coloured it in for this birthday card that I created for my niece. The faces on the turtles are interchangeable. (There are three of them!)  I also stamped the hat image a few times to create my banner, and used some baker's twine to string it along the top of my card.

I used a Fiskars punch for the star border and used some of the negative pieces in the stars on my patterned paper (which is actually from a Christmas pack!). The fun sentiment is from the new Totally Turtle set too! I've always been a sucker for plays on words.

I Turtley Love You

Thursday, March 19, 2015

I made this sweet card for my husband.

The NEW Totally Turtle stamp set has images and sentiments. I recently jumped on the alcohol marker bandwagon and decided to try one of the sweet turtle images. (This was done with my first two sets of 6 markers. I've since gone out and purchased another 72 markers. Oh dear!!) The little hearts are from the same set too! (I just used Sharpies as I didn't have any red or pink alcohol markers when I was making this card.) Each stamp set comes with a FREE SVG file to easily cut shapes for the images. No more fussy cutting!

Here's a close up of the fun sentiment. I made this card for my husband. We met 26 years ago last weekend! After all these years, I still "turtley" love him.

Here's today's free pattern for those of you participating in the CDD release:

Mini Easter Cards

Monday, March 16, 2015

For my project, I created a small set of Easter cards using part of the lazy bunny file from Little Scraps of Heaven.

The blue background was cut and embossed with a cloud folder and I added some grass made with a Fiskars punch. The fun frame around my bunny was stamped on pink paper using Craftin Desert Divas’ Picture That stamp set. I love the fun chevrons on this stamp!!

Thanks so much for visiting me today. Have a fabulous week!

Bone Appétit!

Sunday, March 15, 2015

Happy Sunday!

I found this sweet dog box at the Silhouette Store (#60219). It was so quick and easy to put together - and looks so fun! I get occasional comments from the boys when I'm crafting, but they were all (my husband too) quite impressed with this project. I used a couple of fun stamps from the Craftin Desert DivasFur-ever Friends set. This set has a number of sweet animal-themed sentiments - plus a few co-ordinating images! I couldn't resist adding the happy bone above the "Bone Appétit" sentiment and coloured it in to match the colour scheme of my box. Yes, you read that correctly. I coloured!! I finally decided to give colouring a go. I've got two sets of six markers and will definitely be getting more. I didn't think I'd like it much, but it's actually quite therapeutic - and I like that! Anyway, I'm sure things will get a bit more challenging than a bone!!

Thanks so much for visiting today. Have a fabulous day!

Hugs

Monday, March 2, 2015

For today's project, I created a card using this week’s freebie from Treasure Box Designs. I used the print and cut feature, but cut extra images and then cut out the dress, shoes and hair bows for added dimension. I also embossed the hair bows and dress using my Cuttlebug.

he mat for my card was created using the FREE svg file that is available with Craftin Desert Divas’ Tag It stamp set. I used the internal offset feature of Silhouette software for the inner layer. The “Hugs” sentiment was added using a stamp from the Simply Said stamp set. I finished things off with a few little hearts above the sentiment and some gems on the hair bows.

Thanks so much for visiting me today. Have a fabulous week!

Telephone Card

Tuesday, February 24, 2015

I've created a fun little card to share.

The telephone is a file from Miss Kate Cuttables. In fact, it's one of the first SVG files I ever got but I've only just got around to using it now.

I used a sweet little stamp from the Craftin Desert DivasShort and Sweet Tags set. This set has such a wonderful variety of sentiments for all sorts of occasions. I LOVE the adorable little "Hi" - just right for sneaking into a small spot!

And look! It wobbles!

Thanks so much for visiting today. Have a fabulous day!

I Ruff You

Sunday, February 22, 2015

Today I have created for you a fun little treat box made with a file from Lettering Delights' Animal Boxes and Bags

After cutting and assembling my box, I used the NEW Fur-ever Friends stamp set to add the fun sentiment. The sweet little smiling heart is a stamp on the same set!! Each CDD stamp set comes with FREE co-ordinating SVGs so I welded the "I ruff you" and "heart" svg images to make my sentiment shape. I also created a shadow using the offset feature.

I made some paper wraps for the little chocolates and stamped them with the happy hearts too.

Have a mice day!

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

First of all, I have to give credit to my wonderful and talented friend, Sherrie, of Sherrie Scraps with Passion. She posted some adorable animal pillow boxes over the weekend and I completed changed my project as I fell in love with them!! (Thanks, Sherrie!) I couldn't find a file with a mouse, and I was determined to use a mouse, so I took a pillow box from SVG Attic and a mouse from Kadoodle Bug Designs and blended the two.

Once I had assembled everything, I added a little gingham bow and used one of the NEW Furever Friends sentiments. Isn't it the cutest thing? I gave the pouches to the kids for Family Day yesterday and they all loved the "Have a mice day" sentiment (as well as their treats).

For those of you participating in the CDD promotion, here's today's free pattern:

Love Always

Monday, February 16, 2015

Happy Family Day to those of you in the Canadian provinces that celebrate the day!! Enjoy the time off with your favourite people.

This week, I decided to make a card for my husband. We met 26 years ago next month, and we always celebrate the day we met. I'm still completely and utterly in love with him. I used an embossing folder and stamp set that came in a recent issue of Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine. I removed the heart portion from the middle and distressed and inked all the edges. I then used the flourish stamp in the heart. However, instead of using the sentiment that came with the stamp, I switched it up for one from Craftin Desert Divas' Simply Said stamp set. (This set has a variety of sentiments for all sorts of occasions.)

I finished off my card with some bits of paper tape, a key and some vanilla crinkle ribbon, as well as a few pearls and a tiny heart cut-out.

Have a fabulous day!

Birthday Hugs

Saturday, February 14, 2015

Happy Saturday - and happy long weekend to those of you in provinces which celebrate Family Day. It's my daughter's reading break this week so she'll be coming home later today for the week. I can't wait!! It's bitterly cold outside so we'll likely stick with indoor activities (although a trip or two to Starbucks is always worth braving the elements).

I've taken on a part-time design team role with Too Cute by Jessica and I've made a card for my nephew who will be turning one next week. The adorable Birthday Boy Bears has a few great images and this one holding the balloons is my favourite. I used some metal dies (no longer available) from My Craft Spot for the fun borders at the top and bottom as well as the orange photo frame behind the bear. I added some baker's twine for the balloons too. The bear and his balloons are popped on the card for a bit of dimension.

I love the chunky font on my sentiment from Craftin Desert Divas's Bring on the Cake stamp set. It's perfect for a child's card! I added a couple of enamel dots to finish things off.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Valentine Mouse

Monday, February 2, 2015

Today, I am sharing a Valentine’s card that I created.

I started with a heart frame from My Scrap Chick. The file came with the rounded square mat for the centre, and I from Treasure Box Designs. The file came with the red heart (which I embossed with a tiny dots folder). I then added a few more little hearts around the red one. There’s a little bit of Valentine baker’s twine strung between two of the hearts in the frame too.

At the bottom of my card, I stamped a fun sentiment from the Simply Said stamp set. I LOVE the heart-shaped letter o’s on this sentiment!! I finished everything off with another little heart next to the sentiment.

Have a fabulous day!
