Sympathy Card

Saturday, January 31, 2015

Hello friends! Today's project is a sympathy card.

I started by creating my card base using a file from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons. I embossed the top layer using a cloud folder. The dove is also a file from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons

After assembling the card and dove, I tied a bit of baker's twine around the base. Using the NEW Short and Sweet Tags SVGs (that come FREE with the stamps), I cut the ticket shape. I then used the Short and Sweet Tags stamp set to stamp the ticket frame and the "I'm so sorry" sentiment. I finished everything off by tying a little bow and attaching it to the ticket tag.

Just Because

Thursday, January 29, 2015

Today, I am sharing a fun set of "Just Because" cards that I created using the CDD  Short and Sweet Tags stamp set.

For the sneak peek, I created a little set of cards to send “just because”. The little pup is a Cricut file. To dress him up a bit, I added some googly eyes, embossed his collar and gave him an enamel dot tag.

For the sentiment, I used the NEW Short and Sweet Tags stamp set. And the little stitched pennant? That’s from the same NEW stamp set! I LOVE that this set comes with FREE coordinating SVGs. I cut out the little pennant and used the offset feature of my Silhouette to create a shadow. So easy!

Here's today's free pattern for those of you participating in the CDD promotion:

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

I'm so sad that this is my last project as part of the My Craft Spot creative design team. It has been such a joy to help Kimberly promote her wonderful products over the years and I am so incredibly thankful to her for allowing me this honour. Thank you, Kimberly!!

I actually had another project in mind for this post but my right hand was on the receiving end of an angry dog's teeth this weekend. I didn't need stitches and the bite mark itself is healing nicely but my hand is still quite swollen and bruised. No fun!! As a result, my motor function is a little bit reduced and I just don't have the control for paper piecing. Instead, I decided to create digitally (and had a fun time doing so)! I'm hoping I'll be okay again in a day or two.

It has been bitterly cold here lately. When I saw the fun winter images from Lettering Delights, I thought they'd make great cards for the kids' lunch boxes. I used some of the Lettering Delights word art but also created a hybrid card using a sentiment from My Craft Spot's Think Snow set.

I imported the image of the sentiment into my Silhouette software and added two offsets to create the little sentiment shadow and blue outline. Once the card was printed, I stamped the sentiment.

There are still a number of products available at My Craft Spot. Be sure to check things out and stock up on the items you want. Once they're gone, they're gone!!.

My Craft Spot is Closing

Friday, January 2, 2015

I hope you've all had a wonderful holiday and that good things are in store for you all in this new year. Life is full of changes, and today Kimberly is announcing that My Craft Spot is closing. While I'm sad to see this part of the crafting world come to an end, I'm excited for the things in store for Kimberly, her family, and the rest of the design team.

Since May 2011, it has been my honour and privilege to be part of the My Craft Spot Creative Design Team. When Kimberly first asked me to be part of the team, it was such an incredible boost to me (and remains such a joy) to think that somebody would think enough of me and my creative endeavours to want me to represent and promote her company. It was also so good for me to have design team commitments during the pursuit of my graduate degree at times when my life was filled with research and writing. And it's been a treat to be involved through the years of new releases, blog hops and weekly challenges. I will be forever grateful to Kimberly for her kindness, generosity, encouragement and belief in my creative work. Thank you, Kimberly!

As Kimberly prepares for the closing of My Craft Spot, she is offering a 30% discount on all products. Please follow the link below to take advantage of this great sale!!
