You Nailed It!

Sunday, May 29, 2016
Hello crafty friends! I had a bit more time to play with my new Mint Owl Studio Under Construction stamp set and put together this CAS card.

I first stamped the nails with Versamark and heat embossed them with silver embossing powder. I then stamped in the open spaces with the little hammer and coloured them in. I cut the "congratulations... you nailed it!" sentiment. I then used Versamark to stamp "congratulations..." on a black banner and heat embossed with white. I then stamped around the stitched circle frame with "you nailed it!". That's it! My middle guy isn't too sure about all the white space but I'm happy with my clean and simple card.

I'll be linking this card up to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

Have a wonderful week - and I hope all my American friends to the south enjoy the long weekend!

Happy Father's Day

Saturday, May 28, 2016
Last weekend, I ordered a few items from Mint Owl Studio, including the new Under Construction stamp set. I was drawn to it because of the Father's Day/dad sentiments- and was over-the-moon delighted when my goodies arrived this week already!! I don't have a father but do enjoy creating cards for my husband who is an AMAZING dad to our children. I am so thankful and blessed to have him - and our kids feel the same way!!

I had a fun time cutting and colouring the images. I wasn't sure which ones I would use so I did quite a few and now I've got some extras all ready for another project. I used watercolour paper and distress inks for the background strip behind the machinery and construction worker. Some items are popped and some lie flat so there's some wonderful dimension to this card.

I'm going to link up this project in this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

Hugs

Wednesday, May 25, 2016
Welcome to another Little Red Wagon challenge! Mandy is our hostess this week and she's chosen the theme "Round and Round" - show us lots of circles on your projects!!

For my card, I started by cutting a 5.5 x 3.75 inch panel. In the lower right corner, I used Tattered Rose distress ink and applied it with my paintbrush. I then created a little circle stencil with my Silhouette and went over things with Worn Lipstick. I used some more Worn Lipstick to add some splatters to my card for even more tiny circles!!

The sweet little bunny is from Mama Elephant's Pix's Favorites and the "hugs" word die is from Simon Says Stamp. I finished things off with some pink sequins (more circles!), retired from My Craft Spot.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what the rest of the Girlfriends have created! You can also add your own Round and Round creation to the Inlinkz list. We'd love to see what you create!

Thank You for Always Being There

Monday, May 23, 2016
A couple of weeks ago, I went over to my friend Mandy's house for some crafting time together and made this sweet card using some of Mandy's wonderful Mama Elephant supplies.

The Cub Cuddles stamp set is an adorable one and I especially love the sweet little extras it contains - like the bird I used on my card. I decided to make him into a robin.

Happy Victoria Day to all my Canadian friends! I hope the weather is as nice for you as it is for us in Central East Ontario!!

Get Well Soon

Saturday, May 21, 2016
I missed the last Your Next Stamp challenge due to a busy schedule and was determined to make time for this challenge! There's both a sketch and a colour challenge and I opted to go with the sketch (Challenge #39).

I used a number of Your Next Stamp products to create my card - all of which are listed below. I love the little nurse with her needle - and decided that the needle would shoot out heart splatters!

Have a fabulous weekend, especially those of you in Canada who have a loooong weekend! Yay! We're off to visit friends and I can't wait to spend time catching up.

Congrats (Custom Wedding Card)

Friday, May 20, 2016
The son of one of my friends is getting married next weekend and I was asked to make a card for the parents to give the groom and bride. I was delighted that Karen asked me to do this for her and asked for a few details about the wedding so I could create something along their theme. I learned that the colours are to be various shades of blue and that there is a rustic/outdoor theme with mason jars, burlap and antlers, as well as flowers, being used to decorate. Then the fun began as I designed a card specifically for the wedding!

I found the antler heart online and was so happy with the image! The flowers, mason jar, hearts and "congrats" word art were all created with retired dies from My Craft Spot. The frame is from Mama Elephant and the stencilling is actually done with the Ice Cream stencil from Mint Owl Studio! I thought it would work well to complement the weave of the burlap. I stencilled first at a 45 degree angle and then stencilled again with the stencil aligned with my paper as I didn't want things to be too stark. I'm so happy with the result!

The papers are from Paper Garden. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but the gold cardstock used for the base, antlers and "congrats" are a wonderful metallic with a lovely bit of shimmer. I created the blue papers using distress inks. I added some tiny glass beads into the centres of each of the flowers too.
